Haywood instructs students at ASU photojournalism workshop.

Nationally recognized news photojournalist and founder of HGSTAR1 News Photos and Executive Director of Minority Photo-Journalism Institute (MPJI). Is working with ASU Alabama State Univ, to develop a photo journalism is institute with semiannual photojournalism workshops  . The 24-year veteran of the news industry established MPJI in 2004 when he said he recognized the need to mentor and train young men and women of color in photo  journalism.

His career highlights includes covering four U.S. Presidents and has provided over 205 members of the National Newspaper Publishers Association with News, Sports and Entertainment photos.  Galbreath also served as the personal photographer to former “Miami Vice” co-star Philip Michael Thomas and as a freelance photographer for Jet Magazine, Associated Press, Los Angeles Sentinel and many other media organizations.

Minority Photo/Journalism Institute Executive Director Haywood  Galbreath traveled to Houston TX and New Orleans Louisiana on Monday September 12-14 to cover the hurricane disaster from the African-American / Minority press perspective. Because many people in the nation and world said mainstream media's images and coverage of the hurricane disaster was unfair. It 's important to have a different point of view of this great natural disaster and people's whose lives have been devastated.
